The Greatest Show on Earth.....

We thought this would be the best & easiest way to keep all our family & friends up to date on our day to day happenings in Whistler. We'll try to make a post each day, however we're not going to fool ourselves. We're not young fella's any more and the days are going to be long. But we'll try our best to include as many of the highlights of our adventure of a lifetime as often as possible.

Olympic Culinary Students

I just wanted to mention some of our shinning stars in the kitchen and believe it or not, they are students from the Culinary Institute of Canada and Niagara Culinary Institute who've volunteered to be here. I didn't realize it until Michael told me that these students actually auditioned to come here and were selected as the top in there class and they are not being paid! The sad news is that they have to leave tomorrow and we get a fresh batch of students to take their places. I must say that if anyone is looking to hire some keeners then remember these names:

1. Natasha Leblanc
2. Catlin Heuser
3. Cristina Wherby
4. Devon Pierce
5. Lonnie Davis

One thing I learned a long time ago was that nothing comes on a silver platter and if you want something bad enough then you have to do the extras to get it. If that means working for free for experience (in the culinary world it's called Stagge) then that's what needs to be done and these girls Rocked the house while they were here.

From the bottom of my heart, I will miss them all and wish them well in their future culinary endeavors.

  1. Hi Mike Greer. Happy Anniversary to you and Lynn on Valentine's Day. Heard an interview of Michael Smith on CBC the other day. he had been up I think he said 28 hours? He was absolutely gushing about the calibre of talent that he had at his disposal, the enthusiasm of the team and the quality and variety of the food was putting out and positive feedback from those lucky enough to sample it. You May bump into Mark Evans, Shannons husband, as he is there as a paramedic. Anyway, I am salivating at the thought of all the goodies you buggers are whipping up. Can't wait to hear all the stories when you get home. Love Roger and Chrystal.

  2. Hey, that was the interview I did with Michael at an event in Vancouver for CBC Radio! So glad to see that lots of people heard it, because he couldn't have been more proud of the team. I've been really enjoying reading about your adventures. http://tinyurl.com/ycz83ha
